Jinka is a market town in southern Ethiopia. Located in the hills north of the Tama Plains in the Debub Omo Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region, this town has a latitude and longitude of [show location on an interactive map] 5°47'N 36°34'E / 5.783, 36.567Coordinates: [show location on an interactive map] 5°47'N 36°34'E / 5.783, 36.567 and an elevation of 1490 meters above sea level.

Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Jinka has an estimated total population of 22,475 of whom 11,774 were males and 10,701 were females.[1] Previous population figures vary: the 1994 national census reported this town had a total population of 12,407 of whom 6,519 were males and 5,888 were females; according to another source, in 1993 there were about 9,520. It is the largest settlement in Bako Gazer woreda.

Jinka is home to the German-funded South-Omo Museum and Research Center,[3] and an airstrip (IATA code BCO[4]). Its market day is Saturday. The Mago National Park, 40 kilometers south by unpaved road, is a nearby attraction.
