Brief Description:
This
7 day tour to southern
Ethiopia
starts with a drive to Arbaminch (500 kms) and a visit to Chamo
and Abaya lakes. On the 4th day, we will start returning back and
stay 1 night each at Awassa, Wondogenet and Zeway. City tour in
addis is also included in the program.
Itinerary
Day 1: Upon arrival in
Addis Ababa
,
Ethiopia
, You will be greeted with the traditional Ethiopian hospitality
at the airport and transferred to the hotel. (Depending on your
arrival time we can arrange afternoon or after hour city tour)
Day 2: Arba Minch BY Surface: Early morning Drive to Arba Minch
through rift valley lakes of Ziway, Langano, Abjata and Shalla.
Lunch at Walyta sodo, Bekele Molla Hotel. Continued driving and
arrive Arba Minch for overnight (510 Kms from
Addis Ababa
).
Day
3: Chamo and Abaya Lakes BY Boat: After breakfast drives to
Nech
sar
National Park
, which is situated in the rift valley 2000 meters above sea level
between lakes Abaya and Chamo in the central
Ethiopia
. Although mainly open grass lands, it also contains sparse areas
of savannah woodland and highland forest. Drive back for lunch to
the hotel. Afternoon, drive for boat trip on lake Chamo to the
Crocodile market and bridge of heaven, where one can find Hippos,
Crocodile and variety of birds. overnight at Bekele Molla Hotel.
Day
4: Awasa: Drive to Awassa and lunch on the way at Walayta Sodo.
Arrive Awassa for overnight.
Lake
Awasa
is surrounded by mountains and populated by countless species of
birds. Overnight stay in a hotel and dinner in the pleasant town
of
Awasa
.
Day 5: Morning visit of the fish market at
lake
Awassa
and bird watching. Birds like Cormorants, Pelicans, Marabou
stroks, Hammer Kops, Fish Eagle, Kingfishers and other more are
abundant. Drive to Wondogenet for lunch, and afterwards enjoy the
hot spring, forest bird watching and hiking the forest. Coloubus
monkey are to be seen even with in the hotel compound. overnight
Wabi Shebelle Hotel, at Wondogenet.
Day
6: Drive back to
Addis Ababa
and on the way visit the Abjata -
Shalla
National park
which is abundant with different water birds, specially Pelicans
and Flamingoes. Lunch at Ziway Bekele Molla or Tourist Hotel on
the way back to
Addis Ababa
.
Day 7:
Addis Ababa
is located at 2,500 meters above sea level at the footstep of the
highest parts of series of Mountain chain. Addis is also the seat
of African Union (AU) and many International offices and over 100
Embassies. It enjoys an excellent climate all year round; with an
average temperature of 16°C.
Addis Ababa
is a pleasant city with wide avenues of jacarandas, interesting
museums and one of the largest open-air markets in
Africa
, known as the Merkato. After early breakfast we will visit the
National
Museum
(a multi-collections representing
Ethiopia
's past and present image). Among the famous exhibits, the 3.5
million year old skeleton of 'Lucy' is worth visiting. We will
also visit the Ethiopian Studies Institute Ethnological museum for
its extraordinarily collection of the priceless and varied ethnic
medley. Then we continue driving up to the mount (over 3000
meters) Entoto, the first seat of Emperor Menelik II before he
established
Addis Ababa
as the capital of
Ethiopia
in 1886. visitors will also have the opportunity to visit Trinity
Cathedral and Merkato. Along our way we will have the chance to
see avenues, squares, obelisks and many places of interests and
shopping. Early evening, we will have a coffee ceremony to show
our appreciation for touring with us, Fest Ethiopia Travel &
Tour. Late at night transfer to the
Bole
International
Airport
and depart for home.
